MARKETING MELODIE PRESENTS: Digital Media Dinners - Facebook and Twitter for Business

At the Digital Media Dinners you will learn hands on, tactical tips on how to implement and incorporate social media into your marketing strategy immediately. You will walk away with implementable knowledge on how to get started, strategies for building a strong community for your brand, no matter how big or small, and ultimately how to convert your community into evangelists for your business. Bring your questions, a notebook and/or laptop (optional, free WiFi)!

This first event will focus on the two most popular networks, Facebook and Twitter. Social Media Strategist and Consultant Melodie Tao will give an educational presentation on how to get started on these networks. This will be followed by a panel discussion with prominent business owners and marketing executives successfully using social media for their business or organization. The panelists will provide insight on how their business/organization is excelling through social media. The event will then conclude with audience Q&A.

ABOUT:
Marketing Melodie
Melodie Tao is a Social Media Consultant, Online Marketing Educator and Entrepreneur. Having previously spent four years at Clear Channel Communications and two years at online marketing agencies, “Marketing Melodie” successfully launched interactive marketing campaigns utilizing radio, internet, events and promotions for national brands including: Ralphs/Kroger, Westfield Malls, Colgate Palmolive, Liberty Tax Service, AMC Theaters, San Diego Padres and Red Bull Energy Drink. Melodie also teaches Social Media at Platt College and speaks at numerous digital media conferences around the world.

Kevin La Rue
Kevin La Rue is a veteran product and marketing manager in the field of consumer and Internet software. He is currently the Marketing Manager at Nik Software (www.niksoftware.com), driving offline and online marketing activities to support the company’s professional photographic software products. La Rue’s diverse marketing career spanned from Linux-based operating systems, VoIP telephony, Internet appliances, SEO consulting, information security, and authoring software. His first technology job was with venerable San Diego-based publisher Silicon Beach Software where he was responsible for developing a variety of graphics, publishing, and interactive multimedia authoring products on the Mac platform. La Rue has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and was one of the inaugural graduates of the Karl Eller center for Entrepreneurial Studies Honors Program.

Daniel Matthews
Daniel Matthews is the Marketing and Public Relations Director for the non-profit San Diego Asian Film Foundation (www.sdaff.org), which hosts what is now one of the largest film festivals in the nation. Since becoming Marketing Director, Daniel has brought the SDAFF to become number one among all like Asian Pacific Islander Film Festivals for social media in the nation, with approximately 6,000 fans on Facebook and 3,000 followers on Twitter. In the past, Daniel has served as the operations + Marketing director for International Secret Agents Concert (the largest Asian American supported concert in North America), supported the marketing team for Kollaboration, and implemented and managed social media for several bands and musical groups.

Steve Stoloff
Steve Stoloff is CEO and co-owner of VAVi Sport and Social Club (www.govavi.com), an organization that brings sports leagues, events, and volunteer opportunities to young professionals in San Diego. For each of the past 4 years, VAVi has been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as one of the Fastest 100 Privately Growing companies in San Diego. VAVi also received recognition from the American Marketing Association for award-winning Special Event production and Promotional Campaigns. VAVI currently runs over 500 leagues and classes in San Diego, with a membership base of 45,000 young professionals.

Prior to VAVi, Steve was Vice President of Strategic Planning at RealAge where he oversaw business planning, business development, and product management. Steve has a passion for internet marketing, and has been a panelist at the San Diego Ad Club and a guest of UCSD Extension's Marketing with New Media class. He actively contributes to CONNECT's Springboard program for entrepreneurs. Steve graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
